2023 Kick Starting the Year with LAMMA & More!

With Christmas done and dusted we are straight into 2023 and looking forward to getting the new year underway.

LAMMA returns to its January slot and we will be there with new machinery and products for visitors to see for the first time. Our soft spot for farming innovation will be evident on this year’s stand! Our new additions provide the essential time and labour savings to bring the efficiencies needed in today’s farming operations. LAMMA 2023 is on 10 and 11 January at the NEC Birmingham. Come see us on Stand 7.446 in Hall 7 and take the opportunity to get to grips with our specialist kit.

New Crop Roller

Harvest 2022 was spent creating a dual-purpose attachment to give both a crop roller, plus provide handy extra tractor storage space all year round. Unique to the design is the attachment converts from a crop roller to a Compact Front Box. When used solely as the box storage option, the attachment mounts on a tractor front linkage when the arms are folded up keeping everything tucked tightly in to minimise protrusion.

A Combo for Year-Round Value

While the rollers easily tackle crops, the accompanying Box provides somewhere for safely storing enough essential ‘extras’ such as twine and fuel to cover a full day in the field. If you’re going to invest in a machine you want to put your money into something you can get as much use out of it as possible. Our new design offers great value as it can be used 12 months of the year. You can find full details of the new JF Hudson Crop Rollers here

Weekly Round-up on YouTube

We are now making a regular vlog showing some of what happens at J F Hudson. As you will see, there is no typical week here, every day is different! Search JF Hudson Ltd on YouTube or for easier still click here!

Dairy Innovation – Lactalign

Now installed on four NMR RABDF Gold Cup winning farms and having done over 5 million milkings collectively to date, we look forward to installing Lactalign on more parlours in 2023. Operating in conjunction with automatic cluster removal (ACR) and gently supporting the cluster, Lactalign is a simple retrofitted device designed to counter the often-costly impact of uneven weight and vacuum distribution of a traditional milking cluster. We were delighted to win Highly Commended in the Award for
Innovation at The Cream Awards 2022 for Lactalign. It was excellent to hear that the judges recognise Lactalign offers a simple but effective solution to dairy farmers.

Balancing the Bias

The device is a joint collaboration between JF Hudson Ltd and Metcalfe Farms in North Yorkshire. Trialled from 2019, on Metcalfe Farms 72-point rotary parlour, the farm has seen a 59% reduction in liner slip, a 47% reduction in kick-offs, a 65% reduction in re-attachments and importantly, a 50% reduction in mastitis cases affecting the front quarters.

The significant impact has been better than we could have expected or even hoped for. They have paid for themselves several times over in the reduction of mastitis but also reduce operator frustration and improved animal comfort. To date, they have done nearly  3 million milkings with only two parts requiring replacement.

Lactalign can be fitted to rotary, rapid exit and herringbone parlours. Full details, videos and more at lactalign.com

We head to Dairy-Tech 2023 on 1st February at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. Come and see us on stand B219.

Spapperi Customer Review Videos

If you want to know what others think of their Spapperi NT Srl machines, there are now three customer review videos on
YouTube. Inter Plant Weeders and Transplanters feature in the interviews with LandPowerTV. I intentionally didn’t speak to the customers beforehand to avoid influencing what was said. A massive thanks to Simon of Delf Farmshop & Nursery Ltd, Jonnie of The Organic Pantry and Jason of Bert’s Barrow Farm Barn for taking the time to do these. Videos are on our YouTube channel in the playlist here.

Going into 2023

The coming year won’t be a smooth ride. High input costs remain a challenge and, combined with other rising prices, results in pressure on margins. We will do what we can to help you preserve profitability as much as possible against factors you can’t control.

Thank you for your support in 2022 and we look forward to working together in the new year ahead.
