Based in Yorkshire, we combine our passion for farming with an in-depth knowledge of modern agriculture to develop innovative solutions for farmers. From cutting wastage to maximising yields, we help farmers gain control of output to see they are rewarded through an increased return-on-effort ratio while assuring premium product quality.
Our Story
From an agricultural engineering background, James Hudson studied Agricultural Engineering at Harper Adams which he finished in 2002 and started working in the UK dairy industry at both technical and practical levels with the introduction of automation to dairy farming.
Director, Lindsay Hudson studied Animal Science at Harper Adams before spending 8 years working for Arla as an agricultural manager. She brings a wealth of dairy knowledge and enthusiasm for agriculture to the company. Alongside J F Hudson Ltd, Lindsay runs Bake, a business producing superior quality occasion cakes and tray bakes.
We both think agriculture is a great sector to work in as farming never stands still, it is always coming-up with exciting developments and opportunities. While there is always pressure in agriculture to do more with less, James believes innovation and precision technologies can help farmers met these challenges.
We enjoy working with forward-thinking farmers committed to creating a future for themselves and making efficient use of resources, whichever sector of agriculture they may be involved with. Everything we work on is backed by passion, independence, experience, knowledge and attention to detail. We are a professional agricultural company and are fully insured.
Solving problems in agriculture
since 2014
Exhibited the Spapperi weeder at LAMMA. Developed the on board weighing system for Calf Pram and also designed and built SiloCrab. Grew pumpkins to demo Spapperi during Covid-19 and also invested in a 3D printer.
Won two awards at LAMMA, we began demoing Spapperi weeders and also worked with Raft Solutions Ltd and Arla. Visited dairy parlours in Australia.
More shows, the Pumpkinator was given a refresh and (much-needed) rural broadband solutions began to be delivered. We also became an exclusive supplier in the UK for Spapperi.
Attended Lamma for the first time, began offering Agricision Ontrak, the Pumpkinator was built and delivered and Calf Prams were born.
CAD n Cut service was born. Excavator attachments went into production, branded clothing was created for LAMMA and the Hudsons moved to Wensleydale.
JF Hudson Ltd started in business offering relief milking and CAD drawings for dairy buildings.
Awards
In 2019 we were fortunate to will two awards at LAMMA, the UK’s largest agricultural machinery show held annually at the NEC in Birmingham. Competing against businesses of various sizes from throughout agriculture, we won the top award for innovation in the livestock sector and then went on to win the overall award, the LAMMA Founders’ Award for Innovation.
At the 2021 Cream Awards, the Silo Crab was commended in the innovation category for the difference it had made. As noted by one of the judges,
